I am a friend of Paulos. And if I may I would like to share a few words with you about Paulo. Now of course you will know him as Paulo, but to me he will always be P Pappa Diddy Pappa Diddy Diddy Pop…. Or in short P Diddy When I think about P Diddy, I think of His Wife Alison and son Tiago Fun & laughter DIY Fireworks Random Purchases Crazy BBQ's Liverpool Football Club Portugal Football Club and of course Golf! I have only known Paulo for just under 5 years, when you meet people for the first time, you cant help but form an impression. I can honestly say that I liked Paulo, He just had that something about him that made you think that he was an alright guy. All of his close friends will be the first ones to tell you that: He had a heart of gold. He would do anything for you He didn't have a bad bone in his body. He Was Full of Tigger Beans The reason they will tell you this, is because it is true. Whether it was someone's plumbing, Helping out with Someone's decorating or DIY. Helping move my shed, Picking me up in Oxford at 1:30 in the morning because I had missed my last train home. Little things, but you could always count on Paulo to lend a hand. Without question. ** If I could sum Paulo up in one word I think it would be Dependable. Whether you where a friend, co worker, Brother, Parent, wife or son. You knew that you could always depend on Paulo. Paulo was a man of many passions He loved Football. Obviously being from Portugal he was an avid Portuguese fan and he loved the mighty Liverpool . He was actually in Portugal in 2004 during the European cup. He happened to be in Lisbon on the day that Portugal where playing England . By chance he met 2 English guys in a bar who where selling tickets to the match. By the end of the conversation They gave him 2 tickets for free. What does that say about Paulo, apart from the fact that he's a jammy sod.. It just goes to show how instantly likeable he was. I could mention that Portugal beat England on penalties, but I will never hear the end of it from Mani and Fran! So I won't. So what else did Paulo like. He was a bit a man round the house, He loved to cook And I believe he even had a go at tidying up once in a while But I wont expand on that too much as my wife might start getting crazy ideas. He was the king of the impromptu BBQ'q any chance of a spot of sunshine and the bbq was out in a flash. He loved to do a spot of DIY, but were not talking about putting the odd shelf up here…… When he did DIY we are talking changing rooms meets ground force. Take the Garden for example. Alison and Paulo decided that they wanted to host the reception for their wedding in their garden. So Paulo decided to tidy it up a bit. So he put in, new fencing, new borders, new decking, a new patio all new plants, new shed, built walls out of Railway sleepers and installed a whole lighting scheme. The end result…..amazing…… and it will stand as a reminder of his ability to achieve whatever he set his mind to. * When he had a bit of spare time he liked to play on his xbox In Particular he liked to play Tiger Woods Golf He would stay up to all hours playing online with people from all over the globe. Not content with staying up all hours, he bought a second xbox so that he could play while he was at work. For some reason he thought that playing xbox at work was perfectly acceptable. But that was Paulo. Talking about golf, It would be fair to say that Paulo did like to play a bit of golf now and again. I think he was considering diverting his home mail to the golf club, It made sense as he spent most of his time there! I have it on good authority that the very first time Paulo played golf he won a trophy. Unfortunately it was a trophy for the worst round of golf the course marshals had ever witnessed. Im sure if Paulo was here he would strongly disagree that when he first started playing golf he was basically rubbish. He would average about 130 shots a game. that's about 60 shots over par basically he played like a girl. This year he shot a round of 81. For someone who had only been plating for 3 years that's an amazing score. Amazing as it was, he still played like a girl When I think back over the last few years, Paulo has had some great reasons to celebrate. The move up from London to Banbury. He finally beat Nick at Golf Portugal put England out of the European cup and the world cup. He beat Nick at Golf There was the day Alison and Paulo got married ……. a great day of celebration There was the day he beat Nick at golf The birth of their son Tiago. Have I mentioned that he beat Nick at golf. I can still see the smug grin on his face. * On a more serious note I would like to say a little something to all of you…. To his many friends, Thank you for coming today, the fact that there are so many of you is testimony to just what a great guy Paulo was. To Fran, you where his best friend, Paulo loved you like a brother and I know that you will miss him dearly. To, Mani. Even though you are his younger brother, Paulo looked up to you he was very proud that you had made such a success of your life. To Maria and Manuel his parents. Paulo wanted nothing more than to make you proud of him, I hope you are as proud to have had him as a son As we all are to have had him as a friend To Alison & Tiago, Paulo was a good man, fearless, strong, loving and dependable. I know you loved him very much ….. and that he was your soul mate. He loved you and Tiago with all his heart. ** In closing I would like to pay tribute to man it has been a privilege to know, A man that I am honoured to call my friend. To P Diddy the friend To Polo the brother To Paulo the Son And to Pauly the loving husband and father He was a good man ………… one of a kind. Although he is gone from our sight, he will always be in our hearts and minds. May he rest in peace, and I will see you again my amigo.
