Paulo was looking forward to becoming a father himself. His, and Alison’s joy at becoming parents brought with it much anxiety, their beautiful son Tiago born on the 26/06/06 spent the first week of his life in intensive care. Most new parents are unaware just how much their lives are going to change with the coming of their children. Tiago has not been a good sleeper or feeder and there has been much concern about him. Paulo was due to be his fulltime carer when Alison’s maternity leave was finished and she returned to work and he was looking forward to this new role. They have appreciated the love and support of their families and friends, particularly Lisa, who is like a sister to them both. Francisco, Paulo’s best friend and best man at his wedding and their many other caring friends. It is easy to see, with so many of you gathered here today, to pay your last respects and show your love and support, how highly Paulo was regarded by you, you who knew him best. I know he could rely on you to continue to show the same high regard and love to his beloved wife and son.
