Paulo and Alison were very content together, but London was not what they wanted. Paulo loved golf, he only had driving ranges to play locally, they both wanted more security, to own their own home and be among friends. Over the years they had spent happy weekends with Alison’s friend Lisa Fantasia whom she had known since her early days at university in Winchester, in the Banbury area. Housing was affordable, there was work in the area and ready made friends too. It was the obvious location. The house and garden is a testament to Paulo’s skills. He renovated and decorated throughout, installing a new bathroom and restoring a wilderness to a garden at the rear, where they held their wedding reception last year. His enthusiasm and energy was phenomenal and with a bouncy personality - ‘Tigger’ personified. He was eager to help his friends too, ever generous with his knowledge and practical help. His relaxation was golf. No more driving ranges, he was now a member of two golf clubs and improved from winning a trophy for the clubs worst round to a handicap of 18. He loved watching football and his loyalty was clearly with Portugal. He was also an ardent Liverpool supporter. Paulo loved to cook and entertain friends and the couple hosted a number of dinner parties and barbeques (with Alison as supervisor and Paulo as cook)!) Paulo was always headstrong, with a distaste of authority, a non conformist who wouldn’t wear a tie on his wedding day. Things that got under his skin included - Indian call centres, people being late and Alison’s lists of ‘things to do’.
